WorldSSP FP1: Sofuoglu Fastest at the Lausitzring

Sofuoglu enforces his Champion status by starting the day at the top

FP1 saw reigning Champion, Kawasaki Puccetti Racing Team’s Kenan Sofuoglu top the timesheets ahead of his nearest rival, Honda World Supersport Team’s Patrick Jacobsen in P2, despite ending the session early due to engine problems. Profile Racing's Luke Stapleford came home in P3 to round out the top three.

MV Agusta Reparto Corse rider Jules Cluzel ended the session in fourth ahead of CIA Landlord Insurance Honda’s Christoffer Bergman in fifth. Gino Rea came in a comfortable sixth position while Bergman’s teammate Hikari Okobu closed out P7.

A frustrated Randy Krummenacher (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) ended the session in P8 after technical problems saw him sit out much of the session. Federico Caricasulo (BARDAHL Evan Bros. Honda Racing) put in a solid lap that saw him end the session in ninth, while Kyle Smith (CIA Landlord Insurance Honda) brought his team home to round out the top ten.

FP2 gets underway at 14:45 local time (GMT+2) to decide entry to Tissot-Superpole 2.
